Ole Miss upsets No. 8 Kentucky women's basketball in SEC clash

Unranked Ole Miss stuns No. 8 Kentucky on Monday night, 66-57. 

This is the Wildcats' sixth consecutive loss against the Rebels dating back to 2021.

Kentucky (19-3, 8-2 SEC) breached the top 10 of the AP Top 25 for the first time in four years on Monday afternoon, but Ole Miss came to play on Monday night, handing the Wildcats their third loss of the season. 

Kentucky carried a 37-31 lead into the locker room, powered by Teonni Key's 10 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals. But the Rebel's swarming defense stifled the Wildcats' offense in the final 20 minutes, holding Kentucky to just 20 second-half points. 

In the second half, Ole Miss (16-7, 7-4 SEC) held its SEC foes to just 9-28 shooting, including 0-8 from beyond the arc while forcing eight turnovers. The Rebels also out-rebounded Kentucky 27 to 18, pulling in 11 offensive boards to the Wildcats three.

Kentucky pulled within two, 57-55, with 3:13 to play, but a quick 8-0 run from the Rebels put the game out of reach.

Madison Scott led the charge for Ole Miss, pacing the game with 22 points. She was the only Rebel with double-digit points, but Ole Miss totaled 13 bench points to the Wildcats two. 

Kentucky led for 27 minutes in the SEC clash, but the Rebels did not relinquish the lead after carrying a 48-47 lead into the fourth quarter.
