NCAA student-athletes are set to compete in the 2025 Millrose Games on Thursday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 8 at The Armory in New York City. The Millrose Games are one of the biggest — if not the biggest — stages in indoor track and field, with elite professional, collegiate and high school athletes flocking in from around the country.
So many events and athletes to follow could be overwhelming at first glance, which is why I've broken down some of the top storylines to follow for NCAA student-athletes.
NCAA champs in action
Back-to-back defending DI men's weight throw champion Kenneth Ikeji of Harvard will be in action at the Millrose Games. Ikeji has the sixth-best NCAA throw of 23.78m from two weeks ago. It's a mark under his PR that made him the No. 7 all-time performer a year ago, but he's capable of reaching new heights at Millrose.
Women's outdoor pole vault champion and NCAA leader Chloe Timberg of Rutgers will also be there. Her 4.72 meter pole vault from last weekend was the second-highest by any woman in NCAA history — and she did it on her second attempt. The NCAA record of 4.75 meters has stood since 2015, but there might not be a bigger regular season stage for Timberg to break the record than the Millrose Games.
Top NCAA runners taking the track
In addition to the past NCAA champions, more top performers from the NCAA this year will be taking center stage at the Millrose Games.
BYU's Meghan Hunter, the NCAA leader in the women's 800 meters, will be running in the 400 meters. Oregon's Wilma Nielsen, the second-fastest women's miler this year, will be running in the Wanamaker Mile. Florida's Hilda Olemomoi, the second-fastest women in the 5000 meters this year, will be running in the 3000 meters.
On the men's side, Virginia's Gary Martin has run 3:54.94 in the mile already this season — a top 25 performance in the NCAA — and will be taking the track for the Wanamaker Mile.
There will be two northeastern focused relay fields
There will be two collegiate 4x400 meter relay races at the 2025 Millrose Games, one for men and one for women. Both relays will feature teams hailing from the northeastern U.S. as three men's and women's teams NCAA teams are set to race. See the full teams below.
